　　在上世紀(jì)90年代中后期，鏡湖的水體呈高富營(yíng)養(yǎng)化狀態(tài)，水質(zhì)嚴(yán)重惡化，水變成了黃色。惡化的原因主要有：蕪湖市某醫(yī)院通過地下水道將大量未經(jīng)處理的.污物、污水直接排進(jìn)了鏡湖；部分素質(zhì)不高的市民往鏡湖里倒垃圾；最可氣的是鏡湖風(fēng)景區(qū)的某些工作人員竟然在鏡湖里洗拖把！慢慢地，鏡湖水變成了黃色，湖面上漂浮著許多垃圾，還散發(fā)著一股臭味。來到鏡湖邊的人們都捂著鼻子跑開了，嘴里還不停地說：“真臭！臭死了！”
